WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE HOST FAMILY HOSTING UNDER AGE STUDENTS
As you would understand, not every family or household is selected to host under age students. We require the families that host underage students to be responsible for the following:
•Have a friendly personality
•Have acceptable moral and social values
•Have had some experience with people from different cultures
•Must provide healthy meals
•Ensure students washing and ironing are done on a weekly basis
•Ensuring that a student is coping with living in a foreign country and that their mental well-being is being monitored.
•Ensuring that their student is completing their homework on time
•Ensuring that their student is attending school on a required basis and has a clear understanding of the local transport systems.
•Ensure that student is included into family activities social events as often as possible
•Ensuring student is not left unsupervised at any time, unless agreed upon by student.
Provide guidelines to their student regarding:
•Acceptable times to be at home after school and at weekends
•Amount of time on the internet for leisure purposes
•Reporting to Homestay behavior by students which is unsatisfactory
•Reporting to Homestay behavior by students which is unusual
•Reporting to Homestay behavior by students which is deemed as inappropriate contact
Host Families that are successful are people who show a duty of care to their underage student.
