Application fee, accommodation fees and airport pick-up fees are only refundable if application is cancelled 10 days prior to arrival. An administration fee of $50.00 will be charged and remaining monies fully refunded if cancelled 10 days prior to arrival.

Application fee is not refundable if 2 or more homestay profiles have been given to applicants.

If airport pick up has been booked and student fails to show without written confirmation of flight arrival changes, a fee from driver will be charged for waiting time at airport. (The fee will vary due to time-spent waiting).


 


Sometimes complaints from students can seem unreasonable, however the Host needs to realize that many of the problems that occur in a homestay are based upon poor communication between the student and the host.

If a host suspects that student is having difficulty coping with adapting to homestay, we encourage them to advise our office as soon as possible.


 


Complaints that come to us via the host family or the student are normally due to a breakdown in communication or a misunderstanding between the Host and a student. The issues vary from time allowed in the bathroom to the use of Internet and even the volume of the television. In these cases we speak directly to the Host or student and take into account all details given.

After discussions we advise host or student on the point of view and request they speak to each other that evening. The Host is always requested to put in writing to the student what the issue is to further the student's understanding of the situation. The Host and student reconcile on a common understanding.


If student has a disagreement with the host, e.g. meals, meal times, late home, uninvited friends etc. We will always record a student's complaint, then we call host to discuss the issues at hand. We again ask the host to reconcile on a common understanding and if no resolution can be made within 24 hours, the student is immediately removed from the home and replaced into another Homestay host.

The student will be picked up by Homestay Direct and moved to a new Homestay host within 24 hours, with no additional costs involved.
